2023.10.15 diagnose and pull down damaged rotor cable
2023.10.15 diagnose and pull down damaged rotor cable:
It looks like the top cable guide got bent when the rotor/coax cable got caught during tower raising. The
rotor had also stopped responding around but not at the same time, and was found to be damage to the control
cable in multiple places, probably from a squirrel. So we have two separate problems to address today.
The top guide arm was broken through a mounting hole and could not be bent back into shape. It was removed,
and the middle guide arm was moved to the top position.
The control cable coax was damaged in several places near the rotor, and in one spot as it ran across the roof
of the garage. The cable was separated from the coax down to the base of the tower, and cut off about three
feet from the end of the connector, where we will move the rotor plug to. There's probably enough spare cable
for it to work normally until he can get the cable replaced. This cable was just replaced and is only a year
old. One way or another, some protection from squirrels is probably going to be required. Possibly covering
the control cable with split loom or PVC tubing.
