vehicle antennas vehicle antennas:

My first doppler's antennas were mounted on a frame that attached to the luggage rack on my Ford Explorer.
The outer 10m elements came first, and later a central platform was added for 2m antennas.

Despite multiple sources telling me it wouldn't work on HF, I had great success on 10m, with a few minor
adjustments. (changed inductor values at the feeds, used Firesticks for antennas, used the frame as the
ground plane, and accepted the lower deviation from the separation only being about 6ft)

It wasn't even remotely waterproof, took awhile to set up, and was bulky, but it got the job done.
To be honest, I was quite frankly astonished with how well it worked, with almost no troubleshooting.

It was actually used before I had my Explorer - it was load-strapped to the top of my Cutlass, and
the center area was actually solid plywood and sheet metal, it was quite a sight. One bystander saw it
and asked me "does that pick up HBO?"
