back to climbing

climbing gear climbing gear:

Over the years I've been climbing (not just towers) I've assembled a fairly large amount of tool, gear,
and rope. Although some of my gear and all of my rope started out what I'd term "hardware store" grade,
I've learned a lot and my equipment has evolved to be safe and flexible.

Nowadays I keep four main bags for tower work. My "climbing bag" is a large gun range bag that has a big
main area as well as six big pockets on it, where I keep everything I need for climbing, short of rope.

Here's all the bags I have available for a climbing job:
- belay bag (dynamic rope)
- climbing bag (harness, fanny pack, lift bag, and lots of other support hardware)
- gin pole and stand (for tower section or antenna set-up or take-down.
- go bag (kept in my truck, includes basic heavy lifting rope and impromptu climging gear)
- long lift bag (300ft of heavy static line plus 300ft of tether/tag line)
- tool tote (box filled with tools and supplies)
- tower bag (tools for separating and joining tower sections)
- tower hardware box (replacement stainless steel nuts, bolts, washers, etc)

I also have a box full of hardline ends and associated tools, as well as a propane torch, but that isn't
usually taken on-site.
