back to hunting

antennas antennas:

The classic fox-hunting antenna is the "tape measure beam". It's simple, easy to build, effective, rugged,
and cheap. Go to the hardware store and pick up 8 or 10 ft length of 1/2" PVC, one T and two Cross adapters,
and their cheapest 1" tape measure. Also grab a couple 1" hose clamps and a roll of electrical tape if you
don't have any at home. All you need beyond that is a short bit of solid wire and a length of coax that has
an end on it, preferably BNC. If you can't put an end on coax, find a 10-12ft BNC jumper and cut it in half.
You'll also need to have some way to cut the PVC pipe to length, and of course a soldering iron and solder.
A pipe cutter makes things a lot easier but a hack saw or even a wood saw will get the job done.
