back to emergency power
home emergency lighting project
home emergency lighting project:
I live in an old neighborhood with above-ground utility poles and lots of squirrels with a death-wish, so I've
been wanting to install emergency lights in my house for some time now. Awhile ago I found camper lights for
cheap on eBay and bought two sets, but only managed to get one installed somewhat temporarily in the lab as a
proof of concept.
I finally gathered the motivation and additional materials (mainly wire and VHB tape) to give it a go. It's
taking longer than expected, but isn't that how it always goes? The plan is to have lights in every upstairs
room (it's a small house) and have them powered by a battery on trickle charge in the basement. When line
power goes out, all the lights will turn on automatically. I'll probably leave them all on their LOW
setting by default, and they can be easily turned off or switched to HIGH intensity using the switch on the
individual lights. Being camper lights, these switches are very user-friendly.
