area lights:
I found replacement/upgrade LED RV/Trailer lights on eBay very cheap. Sold in packs of 5, they come with
a built in switch (off/single/double), wire nuts, and have good coverage with their built-in fresnel
lenses. They draw about 275/550mA (at 12v) for LOW/HIGH lighting, which is surprisingly low when you
consider one will provide good emergency lighting for an entire room.
They're even suitable for home installation - just install up near the ceiling like you would any other
emergency light, leave it turned on, and run the wires to some central place with a simple-to-make switch
that turns on power from a battery when wall power goes out.
For field day and portable use I attached a couple thin powerful magnets to the back for easy deployment,
and put a power-pole on the end of the power wire. They're directly powered, so no regulators, which means
no electrical noise and should be immune to RF.
For home installation, they've got mounting holes concealed behind the lenses. Or attach with VHB tape along
the border of the housing.
Considering the low current, I'd suggest getting a few spools of 20-22ga twin lead to run power to them.
For more lights, Menards sells 500ft of 'doorbell' wire cheap.
