GreenWorks 2501202VT electric mower:




I've used gas lawn mowers all my life. It's gotten to be more and more of a hassle though in recent years,
getting the mower serviced every year (or two), the businesses keep closing and I'm tired of having to hunt
around for someone to maintain it. (I'm not good with engines) I finally pulled the trigger in 2025, getting
a GreenWorks 80v 21" push mower with 4Ah battery. It was about middle of the pack on price, but I wanted
80v for the power and 21" for the time savings. I decided I didn't need self-propelled, (that uses a lot of battery
anyway) and didn't need a blower or trimmer accessory. (electric mowers are frequently sold in bundles) There
was also a 24" wide deck available, but that would have been more difficult to get up and down the stairs.

The mower itself was $400, plus a 4 year service plan. (yeah I know, usually a waste, but this is my first one)
I can get another battery if I need it, but honestly I think the 4Ah (230W) is plenty for my entire yard, as long
as I don't let it get too overgrown. And it seems to charge really fast. I can take a break for 45 minutes while
it charges if need be. I just noticed, the price dropped from $398 to $384 since my purchase a few days ago.

It uses a model 2902402 battery. I could have gotten a bundle that included a second battery, but decided that
I can just get another one if I need it. According to the label, the battery is rated 288Wh. It looks like they
cost around $130 new, but can be had cheaper on eBay. In addition to new and open box, eBay also lists a large
number of these in "used" condition. I worry that their runtime has been depleted from use though so I don't
know if it's worth the risk for the additional savings. Regardless, I right now I don't think I will need to have
a second battery with how long this one lasts and how fast it charges.

Blade is part #2903402, 21". GreenWorks makes a separate de-thatching mower and doesn't appear to have a blade
for de-thatching offered on any of their lawn mowers.
