2024.05.04 Spring Camporee:




This year the scouts were doing an event based on the "Signs, Signals, and Codes" merit badge. They wanted to
focus mostly on the event theme, and so a fox-hunt wasn't going to be on the schedule this year as it often is.
We agreed that a morse code program would be more appropriate, and would be doing our thing at the shelters on
the South end of the camp, with separate stations at two nearby shelters that could send morse code back and forth.

We were expecting around 20 scouts in two groups, and the plan was to do an introduction to morse code, show
them how to code their name in morse, practice code with a key, and then send their name and a short message
to the other station.

I was planning to bring my solar, more as a demonstration than anything else, but I treated it as something of
a field-day readiness exercise even though the power wasn't really going to be in demand.
