ENGINE - OIL LEAK FROM DIPSTICK OR FRONT OR
REAR CRANKSHAFT SEALS - HEATED PCV SERVICE
KIT - 3.0L DURATEC ENGINE

FORD:
2005 ESCAPE

ISSUE

Some 2005 Escape vehicles may exhibit engine oil leaking from the dipstick tube or the front or rear crankshaft seals. This condition is likely due to positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) freezing when the ambient temperature is below -30° C (-20° F), allowing engine oil pressure to build up.

ACTION

Perform oil leak diagnostics as outlined in Workshop Manual Section 303-00. With a blacklight, inspect for leaks at the oil dipstick tube and at the front and rear crank seals. If leaks are verified, order and install Heated PCV Kit number 5L8Z-6A666-AA. Replace PCV components as directed per the instruction sheet included in the Kit.
