Steering Column Lock: Service and Repair

STEERING COLUMN LOCK MODULE

Removal and Installation

CAUTION: Do not remove the ignition lock cylinder and the ignition switch at the same time or damage to the column may result.

1. Remove the ignition switch.





2. NOTE: Clean all metal shavings and debris after cutting slots in the steering lock module bolts.

Cut slots into the heads of the 2 steering lock module bolts.
3. Remove the 2 steering lock module bolts.
^ Discard the steering lock module bolts.
4. Remove the steering lock module clamp.
5. Remove the steering lock module.
6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Align the ribs on the steering lock module with the window of the steering column tube.
^ Align the locating pin with the slot on the locating bracket of the steering column.
^ Tighten the steering lock module bolts until the heads of the bolts shear off.
