DM-Tempest4 Unreal Tournament 2004 Map ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Title : Tempest4 Version : v2004 Release Date : 09.04.2004 Filename : DM-Tempest4.ut2 Author : Gitago® Email Address : idonthinkso@spammerscare.com IRC : irc.enterthegame.com #pure Map Layout : Cliff Bleszinki (I don’t believe in CliffyB, but his maps are A-OK) Visual Inspiration : James Schmalz, unknown author of DOM-Junkyard Description : After a recent battle on DOM-Junkyard, Gorge accidentally found out that nearby ASMD core producing facility, which was previously used as a tournament arena, has been decommissioned. Hyperion energy cores posed a significant threat to this old structure and forced relocation of the production underground. He remembered one of his first lessons in gladiator school was based on this very same arena. After “pulling few strings” with Liandri Corporation, he went on to inspect it. Much to his surprise it has been already prepared to be put back into the tournament. As most of the production equipment has been removed, powerful force fields are installed to prevent access to different areas and in turn replicate an exact layout of the old arena. During his visit, he could feel powerful vibrations coming from deep down below and reverberating throughout this eerie facility. He was told that Skaarj prisoners working there have been reporting for years of being entertained by voices of those that have fallen in the tournament. You are about to see why they called it a Tempest… Construction time : counting hours wasn’t my objective Changes to v2004 : no jumpboots Play Information : Game : Unreal Tournament 2004 Level Name : DM-Tempest4 Game Type : DM/TDM Single Player : Yes Multiplayer : Yes New Sounds : No New Textures : Yes (but not game related and already saved in the map) New Mashes : No Known bugs : No Editor(s) used : UnrealEd 3, Photoshop 7 Installation : Unzip the file DM-Tempest.ut2 into your UnrealTournament2004\maps directory. Word from the author : If I skip on the first textured box with playerstart in it than this is my first completed level. I wanted to learn UEd3 and the best way to do so was through absolute imitation and replication. Originally, I desired to remake UT’s Phobos but after reading so many people talk about Tempest I changed my mind. My objectives were: - to learn UEd3 - to learn how to map - to make an exact replica of the original Tempest layout and add to original gameflow that would seamlessly fit with UT2003 while being playable online for people with high res/detail I failed: - to release it for 2003 although it was 98% done and playable by many peoples standards (but not mine) - to use custom textures/mashes because my objective was not to create textures and I have no idea how to work with nor do I have 3ds max, Maya or Lightwave - in delivering full detail of the map as I imagined it because it would take too many projectors which would cripple the performance so I had to compromise - to pay more attention to detail and fully exploit the power of pathnoding and AI scripting To do: play UT, change water in my little girls fishtank, finish renovating the basement, get a job that will allow me time to get into static mashes and remake Phobos, live long enough to see Suze finally release Seana & Brandi - November 1998, play UT Special Thanks : 3Dbuzz ----------------------- http://www.3dbuzz.com/ Unreal Wiki ---------------- http://wiki.beyondunreal.com/wiki/ UDN ---------------------------- http://udn.epicgames.com/Main/WebHome Anthony “ono” Pilger - http://www.digitalextremes.com/ - Last but not least!
