I've been a Rackspace customer for several years, paying $10/mo (for two main boxes) until most recently you had a reasonable increase to $12/mo. Then I got a notice you were raising my bill to $36/mo as a "minimum charge". I responded to the email and was told that's just how it is, that's our new rate. I called and spoke with a rep and was told there were no alternatives and $36/mo was the new amount I had to pay. So I looked around and signed up for a new service (Polaris) for $3/month and transferred my mail over to them. But I was pretty slow to do this so you got me for four more cycles, another $180 before I got it transferred. (that would be over a year of service at my previous rate) If your plan was to "get rid of the little customers", it's working pretty well. I called today to figure out how to get my card out of your system before cancelling the account but apparently that's not possible. The rep I spoke with said something about "legacy customers" being offered a reduced rate to stay, but no one ever offered me that or I might have stayed. So that $180 you got from me for five months of service will now get me 60 months of service from your competitor. Your service now costs TWELVE TIMES as much as your competition. Does the person that thought this would be a good business plan still have a job at Rackspace?
