Kraken SDR Kraken SDR:

I joined the CrowdSupply (a bit like Kickstarter) project for the Kranken SDR radio direction finder when it
launched in 2021. They had a $100,000 funding goal, and pulled in over $1.4 million, so I'd say it was pretty
popular. Took quite awhile for my unit to arrive, and honestly it spent many months in the box before I finally
got around to it.

I'd forgotten it requires a Raspberry Pi for the processor, and so I got one of those and set it up. But then
I realized it also required an android phone or tablet for the interface, so I looked around and picked up a
cheap android tablet. It didn't specify in the listing but turned out to be a Colorbook K10 "kids tablet", and
it's pretty slow so we'll see how that goes. (1.3 ghz with 2gb ram, I was expecting the interface to be snappier)

In addition to the Pi and an android device, you'll also want to get a case for the pi, some way to provide USB-C
power to several devices in your vehicle, and a mix of USB A-to-C and C-to-C cables to hook everything together.
The android device needs to have GPS capability, as well as some way to get internet - either by having its own
cellular connection, or by tethering it to your cell phone. You can use your Android cell phone to run the app,
but the smaller screen size may be an issue.

I've got a newer iPhone, but the app isn't available for iOS. I also have a few older kindle fires, but they
aren't offering the app for download so I assume either their OS is too old or there's a hardware limitation that
is causing it not to show up in the Google Play store. (I also don't think the fires have GPS)
