support and construction
support and construction:
My current foxes use 16 rechargeable AA batteries each, I use Energizer Recharge 2,300 mAH cells. I use a
pair of Tenergy 16 cell battery chargers, but even charging 32 cells at a time, it takes awhile!
(and don't forget, the HTX-202's also take 6 AA each, so I have well over 100 AA batteries)
I don't have a lot in the way of custom electronics in my current foxes. The most notable thing really is
the "low battery indicator" LED, which is just a transistor, trimmer pot, and a resistor. But despite
the simple construction, it has an extremely sharp cutoff voltage - the LED can go from full-on to full-off
in the span of about 0.2 volts change, which is adjustable with the potentiometer. This LED is visible
without having to open the box, but is concealed under the latch so it's not easy to spot, even in the dark.
It also has acceptably low power draw (45mA) when on. Maybe an op-amp would work better, but this is cheap
and easy to build.
