FPB-144 2M band-pass filter FPB-144 2M band-pass filter:

I picked this up to see if it could help filter the input on an untuned RF Field Strength Meter to make it
useful in radio transmitter finding.

It worked surprisingly well to eliminate interference from nearby electronics. Its major limitation in this
role is of course sensing RF from any transmitter in-band. which could be a problem when an event has several
foxes active at the same time.

This filter performs well, with an almost flat SWR at 142Mhz, reaching 3:1 at 127 and 160 MHz. Build quality
is very good, and it's very compact. The only drawback is it's a little expensive for a filter, and costs more
than the Field Strength Meters I would be using it with.

There appears to be two variations of this model of filter - mine has a square cross-section and the body is
covered in a thin, transparent heat shrink wrapper. The other one I've seen is about half as high, and has no
heat shrink cover. (and costs over twice as much as the square one)
