Super Penetrator 500:


This is the model of antenna I've had for decades. It's a high performance 10/11 meter 5/8 wave ground-plane
antenna that uses an external (non-adjustable) gamma match for tuning. The match is made from #10 aluminum,
which DC-grounds the vertical element, making it exceptionally resistant to lightning.

My antenna has been struck many times, and all I ever have to show for it is a black char on the vertical
the morning after, (until the next rain washes it away) along with a very sudden wakeup call when it gets
hit. Lights up the whole room and shakes the house like someone set off a stick of dynamite.

Although I have a gas discharge arrestor in place, I've never had to replace a cartridge. I have a 10ft 5/8"
copper water pipe for a ground rod, connected with #6 solid aluminum and #8 stranded copper to the ground
radial plate.
