3 four panels in series-parallel
3 four panels in series-parallel:
My initial test started with four panels connected to my new series-parallel panel combiner. This combiner
was made specifically for my LiFePO4 solar controller, which is rated to 300w, at 60v maximum panel voltage.
These panels have a Voc of 22.5v so two in series would be 45v. The other two panels are also in series, and
then those two short strings are placed in parallel. (doubling the current from 5 to 10 amps) These panels
will produce about 76w each, so that brings their total production to 304w. So this combination is ideal for
my new controller. 10 amps is a little high for my usual #10 CCA wire, but isn't too wasteful, and this
controller can't tolerate any higher voltage so I guess it will have to do.
I knew production would be low with the skies so overcast, but I'll admit I was disappointed to see only 20w
of solar in total from four panels.
1 sixteen panels out, four in series-parallel
2 progress 18.5W
3 progress 19.1W
5 progress 20.8W
6 progress 21.4W
