back to testing solar panels and accessories

Elejoy solar panel tester Elejoy solar panel tester:

I haven't used it much yet, and prices vary WILDLY for this unit, but it's handy for testing most solar panels.
It works with single panels up to 60 volts open circuit, and claims to test panels from 5 to 1600 watts. The
one I got came with a carrying case, jumper clips, and an MC3 connector jumper. I've seen the bare meter sell
for under $25, and the whole kit for almost $160, so shop around. Just search for "EY1600W"

This meter will test the panel and provide MPP voltage and current, Voc, and iMax.

With a Voc max of 60 volts, don't attempt to measure panels (or strings of panels) rated over 48 volts. If you
don't know your total Voc, count the cells and divide by 2 for an estimat of the panel voltage. Count cells and
multiply by 0.63 for an estimate of Voc. Typical Voc on an 18 volt (36 cell) panel is 22.5v, and a typical Voc
on a 36 volt (72 cell) panel is 48v, so thi meter should work for any common panel. Just connect the meter and
expose the panel to high-noon sun. (make sure the panel is exactly facing the sun)
