back to Explorer solar and battery grid

I wired up things a little wrong and ended up deep-discharging both my supercap bank AND the spare deep-cycle
battery in the Escape. (killed the battery, RIP!) So now I'm keeping a closer eye on things as I replace and
rewire it. I was a bit shocked to see how much power the dashcam used while in "parking mode" overnight. It
looks like it takes about 3.7 watts continuously, at 310mA/12v, and consumes 47Wh over 12 hours.

I've installed a second dedicated solar controller to keep the spare battery charged (off the same panel) and
have both the dashcam and the boost cap charger on the Load port of the controller, so that should protect the
battery in the event that I lose solar power for too long. It really annoys me to have killed that fairly new
deep cycle battery, it was down to 5.3v when I realized what had happened. I was able to get it charged back
up but it falls down to 10.4v as soon as I place a load on it, so one of the cells is bad and I doubt I will
be able to recover it.
