schottky diodes:


Schottky diodes are good for anywhere you want low forward voltage drop but don't need high reverse voltage.
They're not too much more expensive than regular rectifier diodes, but are sensitive to static damage and are
difficult to find in higher reverse voltage ratings.

Most panels come with one or more schottky diodes inside their junction box to operate as bypass diodes.
Depending on the panel, the diode may bypass the entire panel or there may be two or more schottky that can
bypass individual groups of cells on the panel.

I have installed a 5 amp 100 volt schottky into each of my panel combiners to prevent any string that's not
producing as much power as the other strings from being back-fed by the other connected strings.
