back to panel diodes

rectifier diodes rectifier diodes:

A basic rectifier diode can be used efficiently in some circumstances. If you are paralleling several strings
of panels that are in series, you probably are dealing with a high voltage and a low current. The average
voltage drop of a rectifier diode is going to be between 0.6 and 0.9 volts, depending on how much current is
passing through it, but 0.9 volts taken from 60 volts isn't significant. And rectifiers are commonly found
for higher voltages, at a comparatively low price. In such a case, an ideal diode would be a waste of money,
as well as difficult to find with a suitable voltage rating. Schottky are also difficult to find at higher
voltage, and can be damaged more easily by static discharge.
