evolution of solar power evolution of solar power:

Here's a time-line of the evolution of NIRAA club and my solar power, starting in 2016.

2016.06.26 Field Day (2016 was the year we were given the solar trailer, pictured along with another ham's military solar mat)
2018.06.27 Field Day (I acquired my first 100w panel just in time for Field Day, though I didn't have a proper controller yet)
2019.06.22 Field Day (The solar trailer doesn't have much for panels, but still packs four big 24v batteries)
2020.06.27 Field Day (Now with two 100w panels hooked to a small controller (along with a solar USB wallet) I was finally able to charge some batteries and phones)
2021.06.26 Field Day (Following last year's success, I decided to upgrade to eight 100w panels and a larger controller)
2021.08.14 NIRAA picnic and swapmeet (my 8 panels made another appearance at the swap-meet, more for show-and-tell than anything else)

2022.01.29 Winter Field Day (the first Winter Field Day was snowy but at least I managed to keep the batteries from dying)
2022.06.25 Field Day panels (the digital station required two battery swaps, keeping my panels busy in the sunshine)
2023.01.28 Winter Field Day (trying to adapt to another brutal Winter Field Day, testing my new solar frames to angle the panels)
2023.02.02 eight more panels (now I have a total of sixteen 100w panels)
2023.06.24 Summer Field Day (I was hoping to do better with 16 panels and new frames, but this time the summer weather was brutal too)
2024.01.27 Winter Field Day (another fully overcast day, helping out at Center Point)
