1 boost your station runtime 1 boost your station runtime:

The "intro level" to solar power is providing enough energy to increase the runtime of your individual radio
station. Depending on your production and needs, it may not be enough to keep you on the air until dusk, or
it may be enough to send you home at the end of the day with a reasonable charge remaining in your battery.

1 x dokio 220w clamshell kit
1 x 100ft roll of 10ga power wire
1 x 1-to-6 powerpole distribution block

Set up the panels where they will have good sun as the sun tracks through the sky unless you intend to go out
and maintain them frequently throughout the day. They'll produce more power the closer they are to directly
facing the sun, so angling DOES make a difference. You might want to bring some stakes etc to help lean them
up, although wind can be a big nuisance.

Run your heavy wire back to your station and connect to the controller's solar port. Connect your battery
to the controller's battery and your radio to the load. DO NOT connect your radio directly to the battery.
This will allow the controller to protect your battery from accidental deep discharge.

Don't concern yourself with the amount of wire you're getting. I suggest cutting off 50ft for the panel run,
making a 20, a 10, and a 5 foot jumper for use as needed, and use the remaining 15 feet for connecting your
battery and radio and for a short lead to your distribution block on the controller's Load port. Put standard
PP45 powerpole ends on everything, don't just twist wire or screw down wire nuts.

Investment is about $275. (or $180 if you drop down to a 110w clamshell)
