back to 2 medium power controllers
medium power LiFePO4 charging
medium power LiFePO4 charging:
A local here recently picked up a high capacity (100AH) LiFePO4 battery for use at Field Day. I figured this
is going to be a growing trend, and I can't charge that with a lead acid controller, so I kept my eyes open
for a deal on a larger controller since my lithium controller will only do up to 300w.
I happened to run into a possibly better alternative, a flexible refurb DC-DC battery charger that can be set
up to charge LiFePO4 from a regular 12-13.8vdc supply. It's not a charge controller, but it'll work fine as
an adapter between a 12v controller and a lithium battery. This doesn't have anything like deep-discharge
protection or load switching of course - it's just a charger. But now I can keep that lithium monster charged
up by solar without needing a specialized controller. And this converter is flexible enough to have other
possible uses.
