Renogy Wanderer 10A
Renogy Wanderer 10A:
The Wanderer 10A is PWM controller that be adjusted to support a variety of 12 and 24 volt cell chemistries,
with presets for SLA, FLA, Gel, and LIFE, and supports a maximum solar panel voltage (Voc) is 50 volts.
This series is specifically designed to control solar arrays that operate at a lower voltage and higher current
than more common arrays, with the biggest model supporting up to 30 amps of panel current. This is helpful
when you have to work with panels that have been connected in parallel instead of in series, and produce
their higher power using higher current instead of higher voltage.
I bought the 10 amp version by accident, though I might get the 30 amp one to test. Unfortunately, this series
of controllers are not MPPT, so it loads down the panels in response to the battery's charge state instead of the
solar panel's maximum power point. This means its solar efficiency will vary, depending on the Vmpp of the
panels, the normal voltage of the battery, and the battery's charge state. The 10A's board is "conformal-coated",
so it should shrug off light rain, though it'll be tricky to repair if needed.
