Panel Combiner build instructions:



Solar Panel Combiner Box Mk.2 construction

DONE:
- purchase (green) meters, boxes, green/blue PP35 housings, smoked plexi as needed
- measure and scribe meter and powerpole holes on boxes
- apply masking tape on scribe marks
- drill two 8mm pilot holes for each meter
- punch two pilot holes for each powerpole
- use large side-cutters to merge pilot holes
- use small flush-cutters to remove as much material as possible before carving
- rough carve meter and powerpole openings
- remove masking tape
- final carve and fit meter and powerpole openings

IN PROGRESS:

TO-DO:
- test meters and calibrate voltages
- unsolder meter wires
- hot glue in meters
- hot glue in powerpoles
- cut 16ga harness and fuse wires (use 10A 15mm fuses)
- construct harness
- solder meter wires to meters
- install contacts into powerpoles
- test meters and combiner functions
- install box seal and close
- measure smoked plexi (plus an extra or two?)
- cut smoked plexi on bandsaw
- pre-heat smoked plexi
- hot-glue smoked plexi to box
- print and apply labels to box
