back to powerpole projects

PP to SAE project PP to SAE project:

Here I just connected a PP35 to some SAE pigtails. It's important to note that SAE is "genderless" and is
"polarized" but is not polarity-safe. The "standard", if you want to call it that, is for the protected pin to
be positive on the source side. This will start to cause problems when you have a battery that you need to
connect to another electrical system to charge it, since the protected pin will be positive on BOTH ends,
making the connectors incompatible. If you connect the mobile battery with the stationary power source,
you'll be connecting it backwards.

Also, although a battery charger is technically a "source" (and the battery is the "load"), the protected pin
on a charger is usually negative, so it can connect to a battery whose unprotected pin is negative. So I made
one of each polarity, and the user will just have to pay attention to what they're doing when using these
adapters, to avoid reversing polarity.

I found some heavy (10ga, high strand count) jumpers on Amazon and just cut one in half to make two
adapters. These aren't the "rounded end" 14ga you find at the automotive store, these are quite nice.
