N0ZYC LIPO discharger N0ZYC LIPO discharger:

Here are two circuits I made for discharging LIPO batteries to safe "storage voltage". If you store LIPO cells
at or near full charge for a long time (months) it will damage them, usually leading to decreased capacity,
total inability to hold a useful charge, or swelling of the battery pouch.

These circuits were specifically designed so that they do nothing when the battery is connected, and when the
momentary button is pressed they latch on and begin slowly discharging the cell. When the cell reaches the
target discharge voltage, the circuit un-latches. Despite the battery voltage "rebounding" several mV, the
circuit remains unlatched and doesn't further discharge the battery.

There is also an indicator light that turns on during discharge and turns off when complete.
