Snubbers are useful to quench short, high voltage high current spikes generated by inductive loads such as
relay and solenoid coils. As these are de-energized, their magnetic field-collapses and produces a "flyback"
kick of power back down their supply line. Without protection, the driver components such as FETs and BJTs
can be damaged by the spikes, either immediately or cumulatively over time.
