melted and smoked on power-up:
I just got a chance to unpack, power on, and calibrate all the meters. It looks like you're using way too much
heat, four of the 10 display modules look like melting ice creme. But the bigger problem is that three of them
won't even power on. I hooked them to a regulated power supply, 29.0v at 100mA. They max out the current at
100mA and drag the voltage on the supply down to about 3v. I inspected the soldering but it looks okay, I don't
see any shorts or other assembly defects. Only one of the melted meters was dead, the other three seem to work
okay The other two dead meters don't look very melted, although most of the meters have SOME amount of melting
in the display. (but the 7 that work are nice and bright)

I increased current limiting to 1 amp to test all 10 at once, and that ended up SMOKING two of the three meters
that were bad. The other 7 are working fine. 13.8 volts limited to 1 amp. the three bad ones dragged the ps down
to 8 volts until I unplugged the rail powering the three bad meters. Then the ps went back to 13.8 and showed
20mA current to power the 7 meters.
I wasn't able to clearly see which part the smoke was coming from but I'm going to guess the 3.3v regulator,
as my earlier test with current limiting at 100mA dragged the supply down to about 3.3v which may have been
current limiting by the display chip itself.
