10.8v to 13.8v 40a boost converter project:




I made this DC-DC converter to convert 10.8-12vdc to 13.8vdc at 40 amps. Should be good for charging a
battery up when only 12 volts is available. For example, it could be used to suck a low battery dry to help
charge up a good battery that's a little low, or it could be used to charge up a battery that's connected to its
charge source over a long line that's developing a significant voltage drop and would otherwise be charging
very slowly as a result.

It could also be used to charge a car battery in place from another external car battery. Normally very little
current would flow due to the low voltage difference between a charged external (12.3v) and a low installed
(11.5v) battery. On the other hand, boosting the 12.3 up to 13.8 will move a lot more current and charge faster.
