This is a collection of fun/effective things to do during a paintball game. Most of these ideas are for "capture the flag" style games. ======================== Section 1 - for loners ======================== ----------- Flag Trap ----------- place yourself 200-300 ft from your flag, in the direction you expect the opposing Flag Assult Force (FAF) to attack your flag from. Hide yourself very, very well. Avoid hiding near things the FAF may use for cover; you want to be _behind_ the FAF when they're dug in outside your flag, so you need to be behind that cover plus about 50 feet. Wait until the FAF has passed by you and has taken up position in front of your flag. Observe the FAF and try to locate the brass (leader(s)). They're usually the ones pointing and/or talking; there may be more than one. Now you spring the trap -- timing is critical for best results. Observe the FAF communicating directions for the assult. Try to catch as many of them off gaurd as you can. (like when they're all watching the brass and getting their instructions/directions) Take careful aim and eliminate the brass first. If you cannot get a good shot at the brass, go for the largest clump of opponants you can. There might be 2 or 3 behind one large tree or barrier; aim for the middle one! Now of course you are going to get shot at like you are about to hang the flag. This is most likely a suicide mission, but if you can take out the brass and 1 or 2 others, you've done your job well. Without the brass, the FAF will fall apart into individuals, who only shoot and duck. If you manage to get away, sneak back up about 100' from them and either try again or wait for them to come back into your lap with the flag. ========================== Section 2 - small groups ========================== ------------- Flag Trap 2 ------------- Essentially the same as Flag Trap, but with more people. Sprinkle your group evenly in all directions from the flag and do the same as in Flag Trap. Don't all shoot when one trap is set off; go one at a time and whiddle them down fast. A group of four can take out a group of 10 very easily this way. ------------------- Delayed Flag Trap ------------------- Place your defenders 80' to the left and right of your flag station, about 100' towards the opponants' side. Wait. Allow them to come in and take your flag station. Once they have the flag and see there is no one there to bother them, they'll likely stop for about 30 sec and prepare/regroup to carry the flag in for the hang. Just when they're discussing things, everyone open fire. It's suprising how many FAF's can be fooled into thinking everyone's gone to assult their flag by doing this. They'll get careless and think nobody is there. ---------------- Reverse Ambush ---------------- Take two people from your group and place them on a path or somewhere that the opponants are likely to go. Everyone else takes up a position in the two most likely directions the enemy will come. The two start talking loudly, taling occasional shots, maybe smoke a cigarette. Anything to make them look totally unprepared or vulnerable. Yell, curse, pretend to start a fight, whatever. When a roving patrol hears them, you'll see 'em drop down low and close for an "easy kill". How ironic. As soon as they get within about 20' of good shooting distance, open up. Make sure your two lures have a good place to dive for cover. Let them stay low for about the first minute of the firefight. (if the opponants LAST that long) THEN have them pop up and see if the opponants "forgot" about them... =) --------------- Final Defense --------------- Your group has just captured the opposing flag and is preparing to return it for the hang. You hear the yell "FLAG!" from your station. They have your flag as well as you have theirs. Pick one or two people to stay behind and guard the enemy station, while the rest race back for the hang. Don't put yourselves between the enemy and their station -- that's where they will expect you. Instead, take up sniping positions BEHIND the station. Cover is not as important as conceilment - the first opponant you see will probably be a point man, and the second will be carrying your flag. Wait until the flag man is very close before firing, and be sure you are ready to take aim at the point man quickly. You will probably have a side shot at the point man and a chest shot at the flag carrier. Once you take these two out, silcence the guns. If there are no opponants in sight and you think you can reclaim the flag, do so and go hide somewhere. If not, sit tight and wait for the rest of the support crew to move in to grab and hang the flag.
