SparkFun TOL-10829 Smart SMD Tester:




When I first saw this I thought "what a great idea!" and bought one to try. Sure the screen is tiny and it doesn't
have a lot of functions, but it's auto-ranging (thank god) and the tweezers are stiff yet springy so they work
really well to grab and hold onto parts for measurement. If you work with SMDs you should pick up a cheap
tweezers dmm to try out.

Being one of (if not the) first of its kind, it doesn't have many functions, (diode, resistor, capacitor), and one
key feature it had is it came with a large end cap that attached firmly to the body of the meter to protect the
probes. This makes it a lot less likely to be damaged by placing in your pocket or getting set down in a box
of other tools. And since most of the display is taken up by the reading, it's large and easy to read.

DigiKey is SparkFun's primary distributor (and SparkFun now owns Teensy), so DigiKey is the best place
to get one of these.
