ET5410A 150v 40a 400w programmable load:
I finally bought this to replace a primitive box full of 2 amp automotive lights that I had thrown together
over a decade ago, and it's been incredibly helpful when working with power devices. I originally intended
to build my own electronic load, but this one is so much more versatile than anything I could have come up
with. It's too bad it's somewhat limited in its power rating though, mine was going to be a lot bigger, but
electronic loads that can handle a lot of power can be quite expensive.
In addition to testing power supplies and power converters, I've also used this to test battery capacity and
also to measure wire resistance / measure very low resistances using the '4-wire' method along with passing
a fixed current load across the wire.
The display text is pretty small, and I have to lean forward to get a good look at it when setting it up, but
it's highly adjustable and has several different modes. It felt a little more expensive than I wanted to pay,
but you just can't find a cheap electronic load, and this was the best all-around deal I was able to find. I
wish it would handle higher power, I've found 400w can be a problem, that's not even 30 amps at 13.8v.
