solid state zero-crossing regulators
solid state zero-crossing regulators:
Thyristors and SCRs can be used to control AC power by latching on at a variable location on the voltage
curve, and then using the zero-crossing to release. This ends up being a precise, extremely efficient, light.
and inexpensive method to control even high power loads. They're much cheaper than variacs, but aren't
compatible with all loads. They work great for resistive loads like (dimmable) lights and some motors.
