back to butane soldering irons
Weller PyroPen
Weller PyroPen:
I finally bought a new butane soldering iron to keep in the vehicle for emergency soldering. This one has a
piezo-ignition on it, but has a very specific routine you need to follow to prime and start it, making it a
little difficult to use when needed. (you have to remember the steps to light it) Gets nice and hot, and has
a fairly large butane reservoir that runs the iron for quite awhile between recharges. Automatically turns
off the gas flow when the cap is put on.
These have gone up quite a bit in price since I got mine. At the time I bought it, I was replacing my old red
Radio Shack portable soldering iron.
