Craftsman 250w soldering gun
Craftsman 250w soldering gun:
Sears sold a variety of different Craftsman soldering guns over the years. They're not very user-friendly
because they've got a heavy transformer in the housing and you have to hold in the trigger while you work.
I ended up using a velcro strip to hold the button in while I worked, but it's not intended for continuous
duty so it overheats after awhile. You also can't put too much pressure on the tip assembly or it will deform.
The "tip" is a long bit of thin copper bar stock with an actual tip in the middle, and it works a bit like a
welder in that it heats the tip up using very low voltage with very high current across the tip assembly.
The picture below isn't mine, it's just a similar-looking one I found on eBay.
