2025.07.11 LaPorte and back with Nick:
Nick suggested a ride. Normally I'd have said no with all I have to do and rain in the forecast but it's been
a too long since our last ride so lets do this. Rode from my house out to Evansdale and all the way to LaPorte.
Got rained on a little, I need to get a properly waterproof jacket. (that grey one just soaks up the water)
We stopped for a short time at LaPorte shelter before turning around, and stopped again at the Evansdale
KwikStar for a bit of a break and some food/drink.
GPS says 37.7 miles travelled in 4hr 53m. (avg 7.7mph, paused for breaks) Bike odometer reads 122 miles.
It was also 5.1 miles from KwikStar in Evansdale back to my house
My bike has a problem with the front derailleur getting caught on the derailleur attachment collar on the frame
of the bike, and it was having a really bad time with the rear cassette slipping as I was making my way home.
I really need to get it into BikeTek for them to replace that rear cassette (with a 7 ring) and do some general
adjustments. I might also need to get a new rear flashing light, that one is getting pretty beat up. I had to
tighten up the bike light's mount since it keeps slipping, but I think it's good where it is now. The GPS was
a different story. After it got rained on, the mount slipped to the smaller area of the bar on the left and I
had to adjust it repeatedly. I'll need to re-mount it close to the neck so it stays put. (maybe add a tie to
go around the neck to hold the flashlight and GPS near the neck)
