1861 American $0.03 silver star (AU slab):




Purchased on 9/25/2017 for $200

I was looking for an unusual old US coin when I ran across this "3 cent piece" in a slab. Given the small size
of the coin, the slab made more cents. Maybe a bit expensive but this is a bit of a one-off occasion. Probably
still an okay deal, considering its condition and nice tone.

I see a lot of these listed or ended on eBay, and there just aren't any of these in anywhere near this good
condition for sale at any price. Even the "cleaned" ones look terrible!
