gin pole clamp
gin pole clamp:
This is a custom-made gin-pole clamp, designed to connect the gin pole to the tower, while allowing it to be
easily adjusted by the climber. It looks a little rough, but is based on the Rohn clamp design. It lacks
the heavy set screws Rohn uses to try to support the weight on the pole, since those screws would damage my
aluminum pole. I use a separate tower cup for support instead, so the clamp's only job is to hold the upper
end of the pole to the tower. (and keep it fairly straight)
I've also added a pin extending down from the lower end of the clamp, which allows me to "hang" the clamp
(with pole) on a tower strut while maneuvering it. Otherwise you have to keep the bracket clamped to the
tower at all times, which ends up creating a lot more work and taking additional time when moving the clamp.
I made a detailed diagram for the welders, and they were able to fabricate a working clamp on the first try,
I'll upload it if I can find it.
