back to lanyards

There aren't a lot of what I'd call "good options" for positioning ropes. I've seen a lot of climbers use a
climbing belt with D-rings on the sides, and tether that to whatever, but it's not very flexible or adjustable.
I'm fortunate enough to have a short DBI snap hok positioning lanyard, but those are hard to find.

I was thinking about what to keep in my "go bag" I keep in the vehicle, it's got basic gear and also my spare
harness, but I needed a positioning strap for it. I saw this chain sling and thought well that looks pretty
adjustable and reliable, lets give it a try, and as it turns out it works pretty well. I connect the main
strap to my harness's central locking carabiner, and then can connect a light ladder hook to the chain via a
carabiner, to whichever chain link works best for me in that situation. It actually ends up being a little
more flexible in use than my good lanyard.
