I've had to repair two laptops now due to problems with batteries swelling. The latest Mac OS does a good
job of switching to "rarely used on battery" mode, keeping the battery charge holding at 70% to prevent the
packs from swelling. But apparent;y boot-camped Windows doesn't do that? So I have to repair another one by
way of poking a small hole in the cells, allowing them to vent and return to their original size, and seal up
the hole with some kapton tape.

Of course do this outside, since (A) the lithium gas that comes out is pretty nasty and headache-inducing, and
(B) if things go truly sideways, it's always best for the fire to be out on the concrete instead of the bench.
