2023.04.02 heat pump exhaust fan replacement
2023.04.02 heat pump exhaust fan replacement:
Last season I had to get the fan in the "exhaust unit" (outdoor condenser unit) in my home heat pump replaced
due to rattling. Turns out the motor is electrically fine, but the shaft is loose - it can move in and out
about 1/4 inch. I'm not sure if I can take it apart and repair it for next time the motor goes out.
After Dalton sent a salesman out to do a repair, I called Young PHC to see if they had actual repairmen.
Young PHC sent out a REAL technician, identified the motor had a loose drive shaft (internal bearing) and got
my motor replaced. There are really only three major parts in the exhaust unit.... fan motor, compressor, and
coils. Glad I only paid to replace the one that was actually broken, as the other two still look great.
Young PHC replaced it on 4/2/2023 for $687 parts and labor, at least half of that was the cost of the motor.
