This depot used to be for the railroad that passed South through Gilbertville. The tracks have been replaced
with a bicycle trail that connects Waterloo with Cedar Rapids via over 50 miles of paved bicycle trails.
The path crosses through several towns along the way, including Gilbertville. The old train depot has been
converted to be a rest stop for bicyclists riding the trail. It features vending machines, restrooms, and
a decent size parking lot, in addition to the larger lot across the street for cyclists to park their cars
when arriving to start their ride on the trail. They've also got a little bit of media set up in and around
the building commemorating the station's history.
