Lessons learned from Winter Field Day 2024.01:
- solar panels must be thoroughly attached to frames or they get really floppy and the panels don't stay flat.
- make sure to bring along a surplus of wire ties.
- I need to make a few powerpole-to-small-alligator-clip adapters
- double-strapping the solar frames to the luggage rack on the Explorer worked really well to secure them.
- lay panels down at a more horizontal angle in the back of the Explorer or they'll fall over in a turn.
- make some sort of note/reminder to reset Wh counter on meters before packing for Field Day.
- a neck-pillow (round?) might improve chair-sleeping.
- pack some small split-loom tubing to protect solar transmission line at window sills.
- think of a way to dress back solar panel black feed wires to keep them off the front of the panels.
things to do when adding two more frames of panels:
- make 8 more panel pigtails
- buy/construct another panel tote
- make 2 more panel combiner boxes (use green LED meters)
- probably need to buy more meters
- need to cut two more smoked plexi covers
- make 2 more solar frames
- may need to buy more sticks of aluminum c-channel
