There were 21 members (13 ARRL) and 1 guests in attendance this evening, listed below. MINUTES ------- Adjustments to last month's minutes: Fixed type-o in share-draft balance ($1,8798.87 -> $1,879.87) Next month's presentation will be CF Rocket Club Report accepted with 2 adjustments (KB0VGG/N0TKC) TREASURER'S REPORT ------------------ Dave (KD0DK) reports we have $1,090.18 in savings/repeater fund and $1,823.53 in checking. This includes +$20 in dues, -$40.34 to Tom for domain registration, and -$35 to Mark for cabin reservation. Report accepted (N8TWO/N0TKC) Please contact Dave if you would like to get your dues paid for the year. Our club membership form is also available on our club website at https://www.w0mg.net/ REPEATERS --------- Al (KB0VGG): mine's still working but the trees are shading the signal Ingawanis duplexers appear to be out of tune, will be looking into that. Also, the recent "hum" coming from 146.94 is due to a hot PL tone. We will need to coordinate with CFU to get out there and work on it. Chuck (W0ALO): 82 is up and running COMMITTEES ---------- Presentation Committee (Curt/NK0T, John/WB0MAR): (no report) Field Day 2022 Committee (Harold/N4HRL): (no report) OLD BUSINESS ------------ Mark (N8TWO): currently holding on Spring Camporee. We might have our foxhunt on a separate course. The scouts currently have NO sign-ups, but are known to do things last-minute. They're also looking for up to 30 adults to hike around camp with the scouts. (younger and in shape will be a physical requirement) Al (KB0VGG): the classes are going well, we're hoping to see 10+ new techs. They're very involved. NEW BUSINESS ------------ Dave (KD0DK): Lamoni Club wants to be more active, they're going to be doing a traffic-passing exercise on March 26, passing traffic from Des Moines to as far out as it can go, via emergency power only. They will be using 146.55 simplex as well as 3.512 CW. Harold (N4HRL): Field Day discussion. We only got a few email responses from that second email blast we sent out. Going to pass the sign-up sheet around tonight to see who all else is interested in participating. Al (KB0VGG): How do we want to deal with the food budget? Pass the hat or set a budget from the club funds? Unanimous voice vote for club budget, Al and Taryn to buy/make. Will set the dollar amount next month. Contact Al if you have any dietary restrictions. Al (KB0VGG) suggests we think about "fun" club activities. Parks on the air / activate a park maybe? Dave (KD0DK) maybe Iowa QSO party in the fall? Mark (N8TWO): spotting training is virtual this year. check online for dates and times, since with it being online there will be multiple dates and times available. Chuck (W0ALO): Weather-spotting has changed, they're not really interested in activating hams right now, they've got their radios and as usual are convinced that's all they'll ever need. (lengthy discussion regarding weather-spotter activation) Hams are encouraged to download the storm-spotter app and get it set up to be able to individually submit weather reports during times of severe weather. The time for the Des Moines Hamfest is approaching. They didn't have one last year, hopefully will resume this year but so far no word. Al (KB0VGG): Curt (NK0T) is at home and on oxygen following his recent hospital stay. He's got numerous doctor appointments lined up though so not much time to visit. Motion to adjourn (N8TWO/KB0VGG) No presentation this evening. UPCOMING PRESENTATIONS ---------------------- April: Rocket Club presentation (invitation from John (WB0MAR) May: discuss upcoming Field Day presentation ideas: electronics history, radio bug-out bag, alternate power, solar power, spotting electronics scams, mag-loop antennas, broadband blocking filters Contact Al (KB0VGG) if you'd be interested in giving a presentation.
