Northeast Iowa Radio Amateur Association (NIRAA/W0MG) Meeting Minutes, Oct 2018 The October gathering of the Northeast Iowa Radio Amateur's Association (NIRAA) was called to order at 7:33 PM October 13, 2018 by Harold Lucas (N4HRL). There were 14 members (13 ARRL) and 0 guests in attendance this evening, listed below. Correted one occurrance of Taryn's callsign Minutes accepted with adjustments (N0TKC/K0CQH) TREASURER'S REPORT ------------------ Last week Mary Trenton (Bob's wife) submitted a memorial to the repeater fund. Dave has a thank-you card for signing. The club received a thank-you for the $50 recently sent to the Stray Animals Connetion in the name of Phillis Conklin. Current balances are: Savings/Repeater fund: $410.80, General Fund: $1,811.80 Dave also has updated dues forms for 2019. Please hold submission of dues until next month. Report accepted (N0ZYC/N0TKC) REPEATERS --------- Curt (NK0T): 220 is alive and well Tom (AE0TB): W0RBK is up, echo link and allstar to Traer and three repeaters in Ackley OLD BUSINESS ------------ Mark (N8TWO): JOTA has 2 troops and a couple of additional scouts showing up, we're expecting a large turnout. Still looking for volunteers. Antenna setup planned for Friday night, Curt is making cables with BNC ends, Nathan will be bringing booms and lathboard. Starting setup Saturday morning before 7:30, with kickoff 9am. Taryn (N0TKC): Update on Christmas dinner - we are going with individual pizza orders rather than a pizza bar, Nathan will email members the menu and collect pizza orders to be forwarded to Vicki by Nov 1. Harold (N4HRL): Our salvation army bell-ringing participation for this year was discussed at the board meeting prior to the club meeting tonight, we are scheduled to ring on the 1st Saturday in December (Dec 1), with the same time slots as last year. (10-12 and 12-2). Harold will be bringing all the gear (aprons, kettles, bells, etc), and there will be a sign-up sheet at the Christmas dinner. We'd like two people ringing each of two kettles on two shifts, for a total of eight volunteers. Last year we raised over $700, and the Salvation Army has really appreciated our assistance. NEW BUSINESS ------------ Harold (N4HRL): also discussed at the board meeting was a formalizing on our meeting times during incliment weather. If other organizations are closing throughout town, the club president will keep an eye on the weather and make the call to postpone the meeting to the next week. If incliment weather forces a cancellation the following week also, that month's meeting will be skipped. Harold (N4HRL): Club presentations for several months in advance have been arranged. (listed below) Reminder we will be holding elections at the Christmas Dinner this November for 2019 club officers. Jan (KE0IWP) has a TYT MD380 for sale in "gently used" condition, no code plugs currently entered. Asking $75. Dick (W0HHF) has an Icom mobile IC-706 also gently used for $375. Comes with voice synth and coverage for 6, 2, and 440.
