Northeast Iowa Radio Amateur Association (NIRAA/W0MG) Meeting Minutes, Sept 2018 The September gathering of the Northeast Iowa Radio Amateur's Association (NIRAA) was called to order at 7:28 PM Sept 8, 2018 by Harold Lucas (N4HRL). There were 17 members (15 ARRL) and 0 guests in attendance this evening, listed below. MINUTES ------- Adjustments to last month's minutes: (none) TREASURER'S REPORT ------------------ Dave reports we have 1,881.46 in the general fund plus $210 in the repeater savings fund. Bll Dedic was reimbursed $19.66 for supplies for the club picnic. Chris (N0CF)'s mother passed away very recently, we missed the opportunity to provide flowers for the funeral. Motion made to donate $50 to pet shelter on her behalf. (N8TWO/KA0DBC) REPEATERS --------- Chuck (W0ALO): all repeater are up Tom (AE0TB): Grundy is back online Curt (NK0T): 220 is alive and well Al (KB0VGG): up also OLD BUSINESS ------------ Dave (KD0DK) has updated the club's ARRL website Tom (AE0TB) heard that iWarn will be doing field day at Steamboat Rock next year. That would be quite a distance for us to travel to join them. The location is not set yet though. The Mill is looking like our best option again at this point, regardless of whether iWarn will be there or not. Mark (N8TWO) proposed Flying J, though Stan (W0SJ) has concerns about nearby power lines and the AM-1330 tower. Mark (N8TWO) reminds us that JOTA is coming up next month. Scouts will be building their own foxhunt antennas - Mike (KZ0MBI) will supply tape measures, Nathan (N0ZYC) can supply 2x2's and lath-board. Taryn (N0TKZ) reported on our christmas dinner plans at Nana Rosa's in Reinbeck. Plan to meet there at 5:30pm Nov 10. If you need gluten-free, bring your own pizza dough. They will allow us to bring in some premade snack trays for some before-dinner snacking. A pizza buffet may be an easy solution to preordering menus. Mark (N8TWO) was planning to buy the club tower but recently obtained a freestanding tower. He's gonig to buy the club tower anyway though. NEW BUSINESS ------------ Lois (KA0DBC) was informed that a ham living north of Denver is in need of a stem cell transplant and there is a fund-raiser going on to assist with the costs of the four-month treatment. The event is on Sat Oct 27, contact Lois for more information. Harold (N4HRL) is interested in purchasing the club's FT897 since we're not getting any use out of it. (several members have 7300's they can bring now anyway) $500 seems like a fair price, approved. (W0SJ/N0ZYC) Mark (N8TWO) reports that scout recruitment day is coming up on Sunday Sept 23.
