Northeast Iowa Radio Amateur Association (NIRAA/W0MG) Meeting Minutes, Oct 2016 The October 2016 meeting of the Northeast Iowa Radio Amateur's Association (NIRAA) was called to order at 7:07 pm on October 8 2016 by Mark Colby (N8TWO). There were XXXXXXXXXX members (XXXXXXXXXX ARRL) and XXXXXXXXXX guests in attendance this evening, listed below. Meeting minutes from last month with revisions: NOT SENT OUT (XXXXX/XXXXX) Treasurer's Report: We have $983.40 in the general fund, following receipt of one new membership. Treasurer's report accepted, (N09ZYC/N0TKC) OLD BUSINESS ------------ n0cf: repeater status: "they're on the air" cf repeater went out when we had a power failure recently (~45 min) no room for a ups in cf discussed option to switch wloo as a backup, we would require a receiver and duplexer there, that one is transmit only currently trying to identify a volunteer to work on that repeater, chris simply does not have time, not does curt, stan is willing but needs info, will get it from chris and chuck dick gave a report on the recent swap meet. taryn has the ticket stub cound and callsigns, will forward them to nathan to get email addresses from qrz the cattle congress was happy with us though the food vendor was disappointed in the sales. The only problem we had was the tables and chairs weren't set up in advance which the NCC was supposed to do. members on (and chairing) the hamfest committee are getting worn out, discussed changing up the members a bit this year. we were taryn discussed christmas party, getting final accounts for attendance. You have your choice of the following dishes: - new york strip ($18) - baked salmon ($15) - chicken marsalla ($14) - cheese pizza ($9) - pork tips marsalla ($14) + gluten-free will be available mark and stan gave field day report for next year bill dedic's location, across from PEC. we have asus tablets for logging. at least three working, batteries are spotty though but shouldn't be an issue. win7. jamboree on the air (JOTA) this coming weekend. discuss dave's needing to get assigned as the primary bank person so he can check it (only Dick brought in a summary of the recent hamfest cash flow: $380 collected from 9 underwriters $209 collected from donations at the hamfest (admission was free) ---- $589 total income $ 40 beofeng GT3 radio for grand door prize $300 NCC rental for 1/2 day ---- $340 total expenses $589 income -$340 expense ----- $240 amount refunded to underwriters (65%) Discussed possibility of collecting a small admission fee next year. Most hamfests around here are asking $7 admission, we may go with $5 next year. Charging for admission will lower our donations collection, but it's difficult to say if it will result in a net increase or decrease in collections during the event. Will revisit this option next year.
