back to 2023.07.03 146.94 install at CFU

146.94 Analog 146.94 Analog:

Al (KB0VGG), Curt (NK0T) and others brought the freshly tuned-up repeater to CFU for install and test.

Rather than using the antenna and hardline removed from the water tower last month, we purchased new hardline
and used the brand new "spare" we had purchased awhile ago. May as well get all new equipment up there so it
will be in good shape for a long time.

The 4-bay antenna is now up on the railing (connected with custom clamps made by KB0VGG), attached to a 12 foot
mast pipe. It's working pretty well, although there are a few areas that saw a reduction in strength compared
to the water tower. We've noticed considerable sway in the antenna though, which is probably due to flexing of
the railing since it's only anchored in two places, so can be levered in parallel to those attachments.

CFU has been very accommodating, providing a nice place to set up our rack, with reliable internet and power.

Plans are in the works currently to replace the mast pipe with a top section of Rohn-25 and use only a short
section of mast pipe above that to try to keep the wind's leverage at a minimum. This is in conflict with the
need to get the antenna above other existing antennas so they're not directly beside each other which would
lead to overload.
